Multi-Axis and Piezo Linear Actuators

A Picoactuator® piezoelectric crystal moves in a highly linear, nearly hysteresis-free manner. Due to this, even without extra position metrology or closed-loop control, bidrectional positioning is very repeatable. The Picoactuator® technology is therefore perfect for extremely dynamic scanning with minimal power consumption.

In order to build extremely small multi-axis actuators, Picoactuator® piezo actuators can be designed as longitudinal or shear actuators. The actuators' foundation is a lead-free, single crystal material with tiny piezoelectric coefficients but a very linear, hysteresis-free characteristic. The crystalline substance allows for maximum travel distances of 3 m and heights of up to 20 mm. A piezo has a voltage range of -500 to +500 V.
